Here where I live, when we pay “property taxes”, money for ALL schools is included in it via the mill levy’s passed. There is probably something in the city or county laws that pertain to “choosing a school”…Most likely you don’t get to choose.

Well, the school bus comes to our neighborhood, actually picks up a block in front of our house. Their argument at first is that they are protecting the citizens of the city in which the school we want to attend resides because they pay more taxes then we do, then it was that they are following policy, then it was they are just doing their job, and so many other b.s. excuses. My daughter is enrolled currently in kindergarten for the Fall 2009 year, but now they are telling me to de-enroll her. But I’m not. We have Attorney’s in the legislature, congress people looking into, but I just wanted opinions of people’s experience. Thank you!!

I lived in a city like that for awhile, and I had the same issue.

We managed to get around it by driving our kids to school every day (the school bus wouldn’t do it), but even then, we got nothing but a difficult time from the principal of the school.

It’s sad, though, because the way it works here (maybe the same where you are?), is that the more children are in the school, the more money the school receives.
