How do you stop your dog from chasing your cat?

Very annoying…

Answer #1

You have to introduce them and explain to your dog that he’s not to touch it. Tell them in a strong voice and make sure they’re looking at you. We even told ours we’d take him to the Bohle (which he knows is the pound). Keep at it too, every time you pat the dog/it greets you, whatever, remind it. Say “are you being nice to the cat? Don’t touch him!” Depending on the breed of the dog and how it was brought up plays a big part in if this will work or not though. Just try it and see, it’s worked with every one of my dogs in the past.

Answer #2

You don’t. I have tried to stop my dog from chasing my cat and she won’t. As i’m writting this she is chasing my cat. :( lol

Answer #3

Poor cat,can you not find a home for it where it will be respected.

Answer #4

It’s not possible unless you get rid of the cat. Dogs are dogs, and cats are cats. 99% of the time, the dog doesen’t want to kill the cat, rather just play with it, but cats are so self centered, controling and manipulative that it’s made them paranoid so they run because they’re warped mind can’t think of anything else to do. They run away to manipulate someone else, it’s what keeps their blood pumping and it’s a sick nightmare.

Answer #5

I guess it depends on the dog and how it was raised. My boyfriend has 2 dogs that are very comfortable with their 4 cats and they all get along. If there’s a stray cat though, one of his dogs will chase it, but he knows not to attack the other cats. One of my boyfriend’s cats would actually grab one of the dogs by the nose with his paw and lick the dog’s nose haha.

Answer #10

actually yes you can it just takes time

Answer #11

Contrary to popular belief you can teach a dog not to chase cats, it just takes time, all my animals get along great all are rescues and did not grow up together. Keep them Separated but so they can still see each other ( put a gate up in the kitchen or another doorway) let them sniff each other through there for a couple of days, Rub your dog with a towel and place it under that cat dish, it helps the cat get used to the dogs scent. Once you allow them both to be loose in the hows at the same time begin teaching your dog leave it weather with a treat or toy. Put the food or toy on the ground in front of the dog say leave it and restrain him/her until calm then tell her okay and let her get the treat or toy. Also a squirt bottle would be very helpful, when the dog goes for the cat say leave it if the dog continues squirt with water and say leave it again. Use a strong calm voice and alway reward good behavior
