What are some things said in a prayer?

Like do you thank God, do you always ask for blessings?

Answer #1

What you pray for is completely up to you since it is supposed to be your personal time to talk to God. You can thank him for things in your life, ask for help or guidance with problems, ask him to look over loved ones, etc. Its up to you what you chooose tto pray about.

Answer #2

I talk to God about everything. Sometimes I tell Him when I’m upset at someone and ask Him to help me forgive them. I thank Him for little (and big) things He does for me during the day. I kind of think of it as an ongoing phone conversation where we never hang up.

Answer #3

You can ask for anything you want during prayer. Just consider whether such blessings will come at the expense of others.

Answer #4

Since you live in the US and you refer to your deity as “God” I assume you are Christian.

There are several examples of prayer in the New Testament. You may wish to read them for examples or inspiration.

One of the most famous is Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, for ever Amen

Answer #5

Prayers can be expressions of praise, gratitude, requesting what you most need (spiritually or materially), making requests on behalf of others, or simply pouring out your heart to G!d.

Answer #7

Pray to God as if he is your best friend. God doesn’t want a talk like a prepared speech. He wants you to talk to him like you would a parent or someone you trust. He desires nothing more than to have a personal relationship with you. In that essence, a personal relationship needs communication. So basically pour out your heart to him. It doesn’t have to be fancy. You can just tell him about your day, worries you have, etc. Also know that he is God and he can do anything…. so if you have something you want to ask for his intervention then ask him. He can do all things and nothing is too big nor too small for God. Finally, you compliment a friend. Give thanks to God. Compliment him. Praise him. If a friend helped you out in something, you’d praise him/her. If he/she listened to him you would thank them.

Prayers are just personal conversations between you and God. Hope this helps

Answer #8

to heal the world, bring peace, let good people have a good life, watch over loved ones, and the sick

Answer #9

One thing to add, prayer is not just speaking; it is also listening. For some people that means listening for answers. For me (as for many other Jews) it means opening myself up to be G!d’s instrument - like a hollow flute for G!d’s breath to fill - and listening to my own deepest prayer like music that G!d plays through me. That’s true whether I’m praying in my own spontaneous words or in the words of the traditional liturgy.
