so I'm being harrassed online, what can the authorities do?

like I said, Im being harrassed online. There is this girl, who looks extremely fake, and no one knows her. She is posting terrible things about me on pictures saying I’m ugly, and I need a nose job, and I am flat like a granny. I am very suspicous about this other girl who I honestly think is doing it. But I can’t prove it. It isn’t going to stop, and people are telling me that I should contact the authorities, but waht can they do? theres no laws about online bullying yet, so what can I do? I’m getting nervous and almost scared about this. If I tell the police what can they do? can they track down the person?

okay, seriously, there is no hard proof that she did it, but there is common knowledge proof. The question here is: what CAN the AUTHORITIES do about it? That is what the question is asking. ty answered the question here. thanks to everyone else who tried tho.
