They sell a mastic removal solvent at home depot. Its kind of strong stuff wear gloves and mask. If mastic is on concrete it works the best. If mastic is on plywood sometimes it is easier to replace the plywood. Hardwood floors I would use mastic remover.

I typed “Removing tile adhesive?” into Google, and there are hundreds of do it yourself sites. It all depends on what type of adhesive you’re removing and what you’re removing it from..(ie concrete, wood, etc…).
