Random joke necessary?

My professor told us a really random joke today that he tried to explain as relevent to sorcerey. our class is pcs and their uses, first of all. second of all, this joke was told following a guest speaker he brought in to discuss how to turn on and off the computer. the joke my professor felt compelled to tell us was…what do you get when an aardvark, an armadillo, and an anteater are locked in the same room with only a soccer ball? you get a locked room filled with an aardvark, an armadillo, an anteater, and a soccer ball. that was it…does this seem necessary?
