How can I get my puppy to stop biting me when I am running?

I really want to be able to run with him but i always get bit? (he is onl 4 1/2 months old)

Answer #1

Scold him when he bites you. Then he’ll learn not to.

Answer #2

I am not much of a dog expert, but this is bad behavior that must be stopped immediately. Dogs are born to chase and bite. You are the alpha dog, you must t4each him to not see people as prey.

I would suggest a squirt bottle with water, and squirt him when it does it. If that doesn’t stop him, add a tiny amount of vinegar or bleach to the water.

Answer #3

D: I wouldn’t add bleach, that probably isn’t good for a dog. The vinegar is a good idea though!

Answer #4

The “squirting with water” thing really only works for cats. Cats hate water, and that is why it works. Most dogs love water, or it doesn’t bother them. DO NOT spray bleach on ANY pet. That is just horrible. The vinegar may work, I have only heard of that for treating fleas though, not to train them with…just don’t get it in their eyes, it will burn.

Answer #5

It worked with my dog. I squirt water at him when he’s bads an it works really well.

Answer #6

I know it sounds weird but yelp like a dog. Just a short high pitch sound. That tells him that what he is doing hurts. Do that whenever he bites and he’ll most likely stop. But also scold him but no after he stops biting you because then he’ll think that not biting is bad. So only scold when he is biting.

Answer #7

He’s having fun! He’ll stop soon. Don’t take the fun away:)

Answer #8

It can lead to VERY bad habits : /

Answer #9

Squirting water works with most dogs. My dog loves water so it doesn’t. If he starts running say NO, really loudly and then stop him in his tracks. You’ll have to be consistent though.

Answer #10

Hmm…I never heard of the “squirt” method being used on dogs. Oh well, if it works then fine. Just please DO NOT use bleach.

Answer #11

Of course the dog is having fun misbehaving. Toddlers and kids also have fun misbehaving, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t discipline them.
