Why does my puppy chew on her hind claws?

Answer #1

Could be a number of things. She could have injured them, maybe they itch, maybe she has a skin condition. My dog has verrrrrry sensitive skin & some things she steps on makes between her toes break out & bleed so she chews them up.

Answer #2

^^^Agreed!^^^ :)

Is she chewing he duclaws? My aunt’s baby has an autoimmune disease where she constantly cracks/licks/chews her claws.

(Dogs also have an OCD for things that bother them, like irritations. I volunteer at a vet. center, and some poor sod brought in a dog with a growth on his tail. They removed it, and sent him back home. He came back the next week with half his tail gone. We assume he had chewed it off. :O They had to amputate the rest of the tail.)

^^^That will not happen, but was an example… :z

She’ll most likely grow out of it. :) Good luck with your puppy! :D

Answer #3

Maybe allergies when it walks on grass and makes the dogs foot itchy. My dog is constantly chewing and licking her hind feet during spring/summer.

Answer #4

Animals often do this due to stress and nervousness….my dog was abused I adopted him through diamond dog rescue…he is constantly scratching and chewing on his claws….kinda like us humans biting our nails
