as far as I know a promise ring could be anything, My first love bought me one and it was a Ruby with two diamonds on each side, nothing to much.

By promise ring, do you mean once that says you will wait till marriage, or one that says you and your partner will love each other forever?
Couldn’t you just take a normal ring, and call it a promise ring? I am not religious, so I am not sure if that is like against the rules…sorry.
