Point/Counterpoint Argument?

if I have to write an essay of a point/counterpoint agrument, does that just mean to show both sides? I am writing about Abortion. does that mean I need to show why it is good and why it is bad??

From my experience it means you come up with your points, then someone debates it and you get a chance to respond.

If it’s in an essay, though, that wouldn’t make sense, so perhaps you are being asked to list the pros and cons…you should talk to the teacher.
