When a picture says '26 views', does it mean 26 people have check the image out?

@Damon Griffiths There is nothing creepy about it whatsoever. What is the point of posting an image unless you want people to look at it ?

If I post what I think is a humorous image and there is only one view after 24 hours, I know I am more or less wasting my time posting humorous pictures.

On the other hand if a hundred people have viewed it, I can safely assume that the effort was well spent because interest in the image propagated.

Likewise, market reasearch people are interested in how many people look closely at particular types of picture in order to maximize the impact of their advertising campaigns.

In principle that is exactly what it does (or should) mean. In practice it depends on how effective the software is in detecting those views.

On fun advice it appears that the counting system is not necessarily very accurate. I frequently look at an image, and while doing so the image declare that there are zero views - despite the fact that I have already viewed it myself.

I can control my browser well enough to prevent such detection of views by using various techniques of “stealth browsing”, but I don’t do that while on FunAdvice.

OK ! Strange, I usually “get” even the lamest of jokes.

Now it might be a bit creepy if it detected and separately displayed gender, orientation and age patterns for some of the “see how hot I am” pictures that get posted.
