Answer #1

I AM A PENTECOSTAL AND I AM SO HAPPY TO FINALLY FIND A SITE THAT DOESNT JUST QUOTE HEARSAY BUT THEY ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT THEY are TALKING ABOUT!!CAUSE LEAVE IT UP TO SOME FOLKS PENTECOSTALS are A BUNCH OF JUDGEMENTAL EXTREMISTS WHO CONDEMN EVERYONE TO HELL AND ITS JUST NOT TRUE OUR WHOLE RELIGION IS BASED ON THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST

Answer #2

Their are two main types of pentacost people- one believes in the trinity and one doesn’t.

My religion is based on the pentacostal type that do not believe in the trinity, we believe in the oneness of GOD. Pentacostal oneness churches are also known as Apostolic, which is what I am. We believe in one cannot be saved unless they are baptized in the name of jesus and recieve the gift of the holy ghost (speaking of tongues).

Pentecostals are a group of people who embrace the second chapter of the book of Acts in which is given the only plan for the worlds salvation. 36Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

            Acts 2:37-39

37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, WHAT SHALL WE DO?

38 Then Peter said unto them, REPENT, and BE BAPTIZED every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and YE SHALL RECIEVE the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.

I did go through and capitalize some of the words to make them stand out because they’re the plan of salvation which I live by. Recieveing the Holy Ghost is a life changing experiance and I can speak from experiance. I go to a UPC church (United Pentecostal Church) and have witnessed the power of God through their services. A lot of people want to catagorize us as extreamest and holy rolers because we believe to a further extent than most other denominations that I know.

                Acts 2:12-17

12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

That covers why we act the way we do when we worship and pray in the Spirit it’s what happens when someone gets near enough to him … It’s biblical. The prophecy that was talked about in that verse is still being fulfilled today “saith God, ‘I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh” … and yes this is the end times … If you can’t bring yourself to believe me then check out this link … http://www.endtime.com/Videos2.aspx … once you get there check out the one 2 billion to die. You might find the title a bit much but the info is amazing

Another thing that I wanted to tell you about is why we do specific things different

            Example: Dress

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

Peculiar = uncharacteristic = different … we are to be set apart as those who are believers of God than those who aren’t … That’s why we do and don’t do a lot of stuff. …

                                … I know what I’ve said is a little much but I’ve wanted to post a question about this subject just to see what people would say then I would get to come in and explain how I feel.

Pentecostalism is a religious movement within Christianity that places special emphasis on the direct personal experience of God through the baptism of the Holy Spirit, as shown in the Biblical account of the Day of Pentecost.

Pentecostalism is similar to the Charismatic movement, but developed earlier and separated from other denominations. Charismatic Christians, at least in the early days of the movement, tended to remain in their respective denominations.
