My toe is swollen and it hurts

My toe is swollen and it hurts, any thoughts on what it could be? It isnt an ingrown nail. It just randomly started hurting today. I plan on going to the doctor tomorrow if it doesnt get better, but any ideas on what it could be?

Answer #1

never too young for gout, well rare in teens. I was in my twenties when I got it. I was in germany, eating a bunch of meat and not drinking much water. I developed it. haven’t been bothered since.

Answer #4

Gout impacts the joints, any joint, but usually the first metatarsal joint of the big toe or the ankle joints.

the buildup of uric acid crystals settle in the joints and cause pain and swelling.

this is usually caused by diet high in rich foods (red meat, cream sauces, red wine) that produce more uric acid than the kidneys can filter from the blood.

usually anaprox or any other nsaid will reduce the swelling. just make sure to EAT when taking nsaids, they can cause serious gastric problems.

Answer #5

lol, thanx guys, it went down on it’s own, must have stubbed it or something :) I think I’m a little young for gout!

Answer #6

Possibly gout. Caused by excess uric acid. Have you ever suffered a kidney stone?

Answer #7
