weed is composed of "cannabinoids", which interact with endocannabinoid receptors in the brain. this has significant effects on many functions of the body (...including hunger, memory, sleep, coordination, and several others). so basically when you get high, you receive a signal from your brain telling you to eat. it's kind of false hunger, though. also, the taste of food (as well as the sound of music, warmth/cold, etc...) is enhanced by the other active ingredient in weed: THC. chemicals from THC bind to the cannabinoid receptor (called CB1). this stimulates the receptor, resulting in a hunger hormone sent out from the brain, making people who take THC feel like they need to eat.
