Money from the EMA

Ok I’m 15 and I’m starting year 11 in september and I’m planning on doing sixth form after. it says on the EMA advert when you are 16 if you decide to do higher education you can get £30 a week, I want to know if you get it straight after you are 16 or when you start sixth form in september? and would I be entitled to it because it says you cant have it if your parents earn more than a certain amount, We are on income support and I’m autistic so I should get it right?

Answer #1

EMA is pathetic you have to go to every single lesson and part of the fun of sixth form is getting a lie in! also my parents made like £10 over the maximum so I didnt get it! sucks so much

Answer #2

you start getting EMA when you start 6th from in the september..! I got it when I was in 6th form… depending on how much your parents earn is to how much you are entitled to… so it could be the full £30 or it could be £20 or £10
