Mr. stands for “mister” Dr. stands for “doctor” then what does Mc. stand for? (eg: Mc.Donalds, Mc.Gonagall) If its just MAC then why did they bother to shorten it?
Mc = an Irish / Gaelic tradition that denotes a person is “son of”. Mac = Scottish variant of the same. So, McDonald = son of donald. There are similar conventions in other languages, as well.
It’s McDonald’s and McGonagal. No period. It’s just a name. Like Johnson.
