How can I make my Maltese go to the bathroom regularly?

My Maltese has been having bathrooms troubles off & on she can pee fine but she won’t #2 in the morning I take her out she pees & #2’s fine but when I take her out for the last time to pee & #2 she will pee fine but won’t #2 until the next day shes suppose to #2 2 times a day as usual but shes on & off with it

is there anything I can give her to make her go to the bathroom regularly? Why is this happening? I’ve tried running her to work it down but she still doesn’t my mom think it’s because shes getting older but I don’t think so shes only 2 years old almost 3 (will be 3 in January 15th 2010)

Thanks!

Yes shes been going to the bathroom fine but starting end of June( this year) she started having bathroom problems :S I havn’t changed her food or given her anything new so I know it can’t be that

I’m taking her to the vet this week she needs to be updated on shots also I’ll do the stool sample suggestion then =)

Yes Sometimes it is hard for her to go when she finally does the next day & she will go a lot that day I guess that’s the stuff from when she was suppose to go that last time & the stuff for when she goes in the morning too because she does it like 3 times the most when she finally goes the next day

Thanks

Is this a change in usual behavior? Because she’s not old at all, so that doesnt really explain it. Any changes in behavior need to be checked out by the vet, I’d take a stool sample to make sure she’s ok. Also, is it hard for her to go when she does go?

She will go when she feels the need to go. Don’t worry lol, she knows what she’s doing.
