What if I'm homesick when I go to boarding school?

I have a problem. I might have the oppurtunity to go to Madeira School, a great boarding school for girls. Anyway, I’m not sure if I want to go. It’s a fantastic school, and I k now I’m smart enough to go. I just think I’ll be too homesick and miss my friends and stuff. Help!

I’m just 13 and I’ve recently started a boarding school in a different country. I only come home for the holidays but me and mum call pretty much every night. When I started it was the best thing that had ever happend to me. I made friends very quickly as there was only 7 boarders in our year. As I live in a different country I dont go home on the weekends but all the other girls go home on the weekends, so I’m pretty much alone when they leave. One thing I learnt is that whatever happens there is someone there that can help. I often get upset but there is so much going on that you just become a big part of it. I just try to think of how little days there are left and thats how I manage.

My brother in law attended boarding school for a few years. I think in some ways, he was a bit lonely, and missed his family. However, the experience, friendships and freedom seem to have been worth it for him at least.
