How can I lose 4 kg (8 lbs) in a month?

I’m 17 years old, and i just need to lose this much weight. It’s not much, but what are the best ways to achieve this? And is it a reasonable amount to lose within a month? Ps: I weigh 60 kg (132 lbs)

Answer #1

I’ve accomplished this :) I had to eat from small plates so it looked like I ate more, drank a lot of water and did 30 mins of taebo at least four times a week plus I couldn’t take snacks that were high in calories. Count the calories too. Ok good luck!

I wouldn’t suggest counting calories. That’s what screws you over and sends you to Eating Disorder land, for most people I know (myself included), anyway. I would suggest trying Zumba or something like that, or taking up jogging, and cutting out all junk food completely. That includes soda >.>. drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, eat breakfast and get at LEAST 6 hours of sleep every night, but no more than 9-10. You could also try eating six small meals instead of 3 big ones- then you won’t over eat because you’re hungry :]

Hey thanks a lot! i was just wondering, if i eat 6 small meals a day, what should i eat? Ive heard this tip a lot but i never see what counts as a ‘small meal’?

Answer #4

Well I would consider a small meal like, an egg and half a grapefruit, a slice of toast with light cream cheese, a handful of walnuts, carrots and celery with hummus, a banana with peanut butter. Of course those are just examples, I’m not a nutritionist. That’s just what I would consider a small meal- it’s not necessarily the right amount of food. Since most people need 1200-2000 calories a day, a small meal should probably be around 200-300 calories, I would assume.

Let’s see if I can give you some advice.

  1. Meal Numbers/Timing. It’s been scientifically proven that the body does not have a time-clock for meals. This means, as long as you feed the body the required amount of nutrients and calories it needs to gain/lose/maintain its weight, you’re fine. So, it doesn’t matter if you eat one 3,000 calorie meal a day or 10 300 calorie meals a day, it’s the same either way.

What I would suggest is just eating when it’s most convenient for you. I try to eat 6 meals a day (500 calorie meals), but sometimes if I’m busy and it’s late, I’ll eat 4 meals (800 calorie meals). Plan it so that you’re not feeling starved, but not feeling stuffed or satiated after every meal you eat.

  1. Exercise. It’s been proven that lifting heavy weights burns more calories than lighter weights. This is because in order to lift such a heavy weight, your body needs to use more energy for a shorter period of time. That’s not to say, you go lift heavy things now, because any exercise will work for you. The body likes to be idle, any movement that causes it to lose this idle position means it must now burn calories as fuel. Just typing this, I am burning calories.

  2. Water. Your body is 75% water, but people often neglect this. It’s very important, and it’s one of the most natural diuretics out there. This means, the more you drink, the more you pee which is good to lose water weight as well as keep the bowels and rest of the body functioning well.
