Hi, I'm a hairdresser so I can help here. You should wait at LEAST 48 hours before washing your hair after having a perm. But if I were you I'd wait about 5 days and after one normal wash before going swimming. The salt in the ocean, and the chemicals in pools will reduce perm bounce dramatically if the perm isn't given enough time to set. When you walk out of the salon after having a perm, it's not all done. The perm is still setting into place up to even a week after it's done. Things like brushing it, swimming, colouring it, and sleeping crooked on your hair could cause it to loose shape, set wonky, or drop before the estimated drop period of 3-7 months.
@Renee since you're a hairdresser could you tell me a little about what I should expect? I'm a little nervousī
hah i thought this said how long do i have to wait till i get a $perm to go swimming O.o
Hope you like spending money at your hairdresser if that is the case then.
