well it depends on how many credits you take a semester and if you take summer classes. Usually it takes about 4 years for people to graduate.

Atleast in my university, BECOMING an english major takes only as long as it does to write it on your course approval form and have it signed by the english department. To graduate with a BA majoring in English takes approximately three years. In other countries I think its longer.
