When you hurt your lower trunk a knot occurs in your groin area. When you hurt your upper trunk it occurs under the arm. My mother called these kernals. What is the reason for this?

These “knots” are lymph nodes. They can become inflamed for many reasons. If you scratch your scalp while combing your hair a node in your neck might enlarge.
