Is my jumpiness an actual disorder?

so I am extremely jumpy. every time someone talks after a lopng silence I jump. if someone gestures fast towards me I jump. at a loud noise in the distance I jump. its really bad. its as if im in one of those scary movies. I was wondering if theres an actual disorder that goes along with jumpiness. I have noticed that it has gotten a little worse.

Watch animals…there ones who are “jumpy”…one’s who are laid back, and only a bomb can make them jump. Part of it is hereditary…part of it is “learned”…Do you see it as a problem? You can teach yourself to be less nervy…deep breathing is very relaxing…bio-feedback can help, too.

I’ve been “jumpy”, at times, all my life…As long as I don’t scream, and scare everybody else :)…it’s not much of a problem.

Dear hawaiianhott12, There could be so get a doctors opinion. I suffer from this as well…I have nothing wrong other than I grew up in a home with a jumpy mother. So for me most of it was leaned. I was laughed at a lot for this as a child and now as an adult I am still laughed at but with much more kindness. During fireworks I am usually the center of attraction lol. I’ve leaned to live with it. Other’s will say I scare them more by my reaction then by the noise itself. Sue…good luck
