its called TMJ,or Temporomandibular joint disorder,Symptoms associated with TMJ disorders may be,Biting or chewing difficulty or discomfort it is painful,Clicking, popping, or grating sound when,opening or closing the mouth,Dull, aching pain in the face,Earache,Headache.etc,
Mine does the same thing, in fact a lot of people tell me their jaw pops too when they chew food.... I'm not sure why it happens, but I think we'll be okay...as long as we don't lose our jaws, we are okay.

It usually has something to do with your teeth but you should be fine. :)
I'd talk to your orthodontist.
