Is it a mole??

Hey I have a slightly raised brown spot on the side of my face. I really don’t think it’s a mole because it’s doesn’t have a round surface and isn’t very raised. It’s larger than a freckle and the same colour as my freckles,a sort of brown orange. I’m a natural blonde and don’t tan naturally but don’t get freckles easily. I have a few other smaller raised freckles like this on my arms and a bigger one on my back. I don’t know if I was born with these or not but the creepy thing is that my sister (who’s 2 years younger than me) has the same marking on the side of her face and on her back and arms! My parents don’t have these markings (except my mom has a sort of larger one on her toe) and neither does my brother!

I’m worried these things are cancerous! I’m very paranoid about skin cancer and my mom has warned me about being very careful with the one on my face because if I scratch it and it bleeds then it could turn cancerous! Is this true? I have scratched it by accident a few times before and it has bled and now I’m scared!! It only bled like a pimple though. No pus came out though!

Also little hairs grow from them, the only one I mind is the one on my face and I didn’t notice until 5 years ago when a friend pointed it out to me. They’re light blonde in colour and I hadn’t noticed them before that. Ever since then I’ve been plucking the hairs out as they grow and they have become course but haven’t darkened or gotten thicker!!

I think it got red around before. When I wear any kind of foundation or complexion make up it doesn’t cover the flat mole. I don’t want to but I noticed that the make-up actually doesn’t sit on, according to my sister, there’s a thin ring of my normal skin surrounding my flat mole that doesn’t get covered by the make-up. I don’t find it noticeable and it doesn’t bother me but I’m just wondering why this happens??!

I just searched ‘flat moles on Google and an article came up that said this;

“studies show that flat moles are more likely to give rise to melanoma than raised ones”

I’m scared!

go to a dermatologist then. skin cancer runs in my family and so do two types of other cancers. I have had cancer twice already. if you are scared dont freak yourself out looking things up on the internet just go to your doctor and get a reccomendation for a dermatologist.
