I would like to stop smoking!
I have been smoking about 10-15 cigarettes a day for almost 6 years now, all my friends smoke, but not my family, so thats good…but they think I stink! So I’d like to stop and be successful the first time. Any tips??
I started at 11 and smoked till 33. I tried several times to stop cold turkey, and tried low tar (I smoked more), and weaning (didn’t work). Tried thinking about my health, and the money I was spending (at the time $1.00 a pack out of a vending machine - don’t you wish). One day my 18 month old son picked up a pack and stuck the bottom end into his mouth, and like a bolt from the blue, I thought of how I would one day be telling him (and his soon-to-be-born sister) how bad it was to be smoking — while I was puffing away. THAT image and thought was what gave ME the determination. I kept bite-sized pieces of raw fruit and veggies packed in ice. And chewed on them. My wife (at the time) said I was a real grump for three days, and then I mellowed. For YEARS I had a desire to smoke especially at certain times, and I NEVER let myself think or say that I had quit. I was just QUITTING, and that it had been 4 years (or whatever) since my last cigarette. Sometime around year 8, I realized that it had been years since my last urge, and I have been urge free since.
So to summerize: You have to be motivated (other people wanting it wouldn’t have done it) You have to have a plan You have to think of it as an ongoing thing (that I borrowed from AA - one day at a time) And importantly, IF you stumble, just resume right away

go to www.youtube.com and type in stop smoking in three minutes, also look at the other smoking videos. Do this for at least seven days. Smoke your last pack of cigarettes and write down the present time, date, and year and put it next to your bed. also get rid of all your ashtrays
Just think about how much you stink, think that people will think that until you have stoped smoking. Its harsh but worth it! Think negative this tym…the results will be positive. You should also use nicotine patches to help you further. Hope this helps, :)
Well if you want to give up smoking,I suggest you better don’t use nicotine patches.I used to use them and I felt bad,all the time wanting to throw out,and the nicotine patches they stink awfully..anyway they didn’t helped me to stop smoking..I think you don’t need anyones help,if you want to stop smoking…if you really want to stop,you just need a big willpower to do it…or you could use my method,like getting busy on day,usually I when im sitting at home,im exercising almost all day,and I hardly go for smoke..I think you just need find something you envoy doing,and you wont go so often for smoke…it helped me..
yes you shud maybe go to your doctor and ask about chantix…goood luck..
