Depressed about my weight

I am becoming so depressed about my weight, although I realise I am not fat I can see that I am on my way. With a height of 5”3 and weight of 8st 10 lbs my bmi is around 21.

I feel as though I am constantly eating and this is begining to get me down. I have just come of Carol Vordeman’s detox which I stuck to strictly and lost a measly 3 lbs in one month. I have tried bullimia, even though I knew it was not sensible - I was just so upset about the way I looked, but I can’t be sick, maybe a sub-concious barrier?

I want to be healthy and I want to be able to feel amazing when I dance, at the moment in classes I feel heavy and am not able to give my all. I feel fat stood next to other girls and feel as though my teachers judge me on my weight. I also would love to audition for a ballet school and will need to loose at least 15 pounds if I stand any chance at getting in.

PLEASE HELP ME!

:( Thank You Georgie x

You have a BMI of 21.61.

BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9 (Normal Weight)

People whose BMI is within 18.5 to 24.9 possess the ideal amount of body weight, associated with living longest, the lowest incidence of serious ilness, as well as being perceived as more physically attractive people than persons with BMI in higher or lower ranges. However, it may be a good idea to check your Waist Circumference and keep it within the recommended limits.

bmi calculator:

If you need conversion info, 1 kg = 2.2 pounds and 2.54 cm = 1 inch (12 inches = 1 foot)

The average girl your age and height weighs between 104 and 115 pounds.   Average Teenager Weight

By my calculations you weigh 122 pounds, which is normal for your age and height. If you wanted to be exactly in the middle, you could lose 7 pounds.

Info if you are trying to LOSE weight:

http://www.bmi-calculator.net/treatment/overweight-treatment.php

“How can I Lose 1 pound of body weight per week?”   One pound of body fat is equal to about 3500 calories. So to lose 1 pound of weight per week, you need to eat 500 calories/day LESS than you burn.

But it’s not a good idea to lose weight simply by cutting calories. As well as decreasing calories you should increase your daily physical exercise. This helps to burn calories and build more lean tissue which in turn burns more calories.

“What should a minimum calorie intake be?”

As a guide to minimum calorie intake, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that calorie levels never drop below 1200 calories per day for women or 1800 calories per day for men. Even these calorie levels are quite low.

honey. you are perfect. your BMI is exactly (althought bordering under) fine. if you’re eating, it’s because; you need to. I don’t know how old you are, but us lasses develope until we’re about 18, as appose to a mans 16.

you’re BMI is fine, and just because the people are ‘lighter’ is not necassarily a good thing.

feel how you dance, not think…it’s the emotion that matters.
