I'm a musician with anxiety, but meds mute my creativity. What todo?

I’ve dedicated a huge part of my life to music and find playing music to be my best emotional outlet as well as my greatest achievement. I have pretty bad anxiety and depression which severely hinders my daily life. All the anti-anxiety medications completely kill my creative side. I don’t know whether I should try to get through life with anxiety or give up my passion for music. Plus, I wrote my best songs and poetry while I was either depressed or extremely stressed out.

Have you tried beta blockers? I know a number of musicians who take these so they will be able to perform when nervous. Your doctor should be willing to prescribe these unless you have a counterindication.

Life presents some pretty tough challenges. The question is are you going to let your anxities cripple you? Some of the biggest musicians had personal issues that they had to battle daily. The key is talking to God everyday let God stress out about your issues. Make the determination that nothing is going to stop you. I speak from experience check out my profile. I hope I helped

BEST ADVICE EVER for this situation:

smoke weed. It makes you happy, gives you great creative vibes, and brings out the best ideas for songs. I am a drummer, and I find that I play drums the best when high.

Don’t give me crap about, “oh weed’s bad for you.”, because it’s not. trust me. It’s not addictive at all. It’s cheap, it won’t give you a hangover, and helps you sleep. It also helps with depression and anxiety. Please consider.

Answer #5

Yes it is bad for you… If you knew the scientific side to it you would know. Don’t smoke weed.
