How to speak up in school?

I am a very shy, sweet 14 year old girl, and I do good in school, the teachers like me, I get B’s and A’s but I’m not saying I’m honor roll material. I do good at school work, but once I don’t understand something (which is quite often now, but I do pay attention as best as I can), I am to shy to ask the teacher for help because I feel like I’m wasting they’re time, I like staying out of people’s way, not causing anything, so then I just sit there and do nothing so I am then behind, when it comes to school work, I am not lazy, what can I do to try and speak up in class so my grades don’t drop?

well why not try to find motivation for yourself. and when you don’t understand something, speak then, its better then cause you can understand or try to get an explanation. trust me you would be surprised how school would change for you if you started to speak up. it would get better than it is now for you

Just take a deep breath and do it. If you don’t you could get bad grades. if you know there is something the teacher could do to help, then ask her about it. If you don’t feel comfortable when she is explaining things, try after class, or while the rest of your class is doing a worksheet. Chances are it will really help and your grades will show it.

well im around your age (im gona turn 14) and I am very outgoing and loud. when I need help im not afraid to ask for help. you shouldnt either because teachers are suppose to help you when your struggling so dont ever feel like youre wasting their time.if you struggle with homework, stay after school and ask a teacher to explain it to you 1 on 1. or ask a friend that understands the work to help you. you can build up a good relationship with your teachers so you dont feel that way towards them. dont feel afraid to speak up for anything, nothing will bad will happen :) I hope my advice will help you out!!

I’m the same way, but I find if I answer a question correctly, sit in the front of the room (if allowed), talk with the teacher about random stuff before class, etc., I have much more confidence. Also, wearing clothes you feel good/sexy in really help. You may even find it helpful to ask the people sitting around you, if it’s not interfering with the teacher’s lesson.
