the thesis is the main point of your paper. It lays out what the paper is about. You take a position on your topic. Do some research (for me this is the hardest part), write out an outline (helps a TON), and just try and put your unique voice into it. A thesis is sort of like a hypotheses that throughout the paper you prove. An example would be: Charter cities are an excellent form of local government because Point A, Point B, Point C. Then each paragraph following will explain how each of those Points relate to your specific opinion. hope this helps…

In a thesis driven reasearch paper you take a side and argue your point. it should start with an introductory paragraph including a thesis statment with 3-5 main points, for the body you will write a paragraph for each point to give further details. The last paragraph will be your conclusion where you will restat your thesis and give a brief summary. hope this helps.

Your thesis my be like : I think charter citys are a good form of local government because they offer the chance for laws to be passed that apply to an area, they give people a more direct say in their city, laws could be passed that wouldn’t be plausable for a larger area, and it gives each city its own individuality.
