How do I deal with a Racist School

I am mostly Native American, and middle class, slowly falling into low class. All other kids at my school some from rich families that give them whatever they want, and are all caucasion. I am sick of hearing all about Coloumbus and all of the ‘he discovered America’ crap because he didn’t ‘discover’ andything. The Native Americans gave him food, water, showed him how to do this and that, and what did he do? He killed them. I’m sorry. It angers me so much I can’t handle it. I am just sick of it. How do I approach and handle this stuff reasonably?

I am part Native American as well. Do some research on Chris Columbus, I think you’ll find he never set foot on what we know as the United States of America. He stumbled about on Hispaniola, Cuba, the Bahamian Archipelago, Honduras and others in his four voyages. Though said to be brutal in his ruling of his colony on Hispaniola, he really didn’t kill anyone on what is now the U.S. You’ll find why we are called America and I think you’ll agree if history was properly served, we’d be called Erika or Eriksonia after Lief Erikson. Columbus was an Italian working for the Spanish Royalty trying to find the West Indies and he thought that’s where he was when he hit a Bahamian Island and then went on to Cuba and Hispaniola. When he believed he was in the West Indies, he called the inhabitants Indians. Several of the islands have graves they claim contain Columbus’ remains. So though his discovery did lead to the European “invasion” of America, it was truly an accident, led by an Italian sailor who was lost and half a world away from where he wanted to be. Do some research, then express your opinion. It is not something to be taken personally, it’s just another part of our history (and I mean American History). We should all be proud of our heritage, and you have a strong heritage to be proud of. But don’t let it be an “us and against them” attitude. And you might tell the others from your ancestor’s point of view, 12 October could be viewed as the day of The Great North American Invasion!

  1. Start riding to school on a horse.

  2. Wear bird feathers.

snort I WISH! My principal would send me to a pshycology person for thinking horses are transportation! And, I’d be sent to rehabilitation if I did number 2 :(

Answer #3

its not really racist because they teach that in every school, tell the teacher who is teaching it how you feel , but its the teacher job to teach you about coloumbus , a lot of people agree thats it is not right how they say he found america and he how he killed most of the indians.

all I can say is that we get the day off…and no one really knows what really happen with colombus
