How can I talk to my doctor about putting me on the pill ?

Well,me and my boyfriend have been together for over a year, and we are not ready to have sex yet but I would rather be already on it and be on the safe side! My doctor has brought it up before, and the three shots that I have to have before ,but I HATE needles. I was just wondering how to bring it back up to her ?

When the nurse takes your blood pressure and all that stuff before the exam mention to her that you would like to talk to the Doc about birth control options, she will write it on your chart and then the Doctor will read the chart and will ask you about it when she comes in to examine you. There are other options besides pills and shots. There is an insertable ring and a patch that you can choose as well as other options.

well, first off congradulations of thinking about this now because most kids dont think about it untill after they have sex, and its often too late them just bring up that youd like to go on the pill it will protect you from pregnancy 99% if used correctly and will also regulate your periods and can make your flow a bit lighter the pill does have side effects thoguh and she will explain them to you depending on which pill she gives you there are also quite a lot of different brands of pills so she needs to determine which pill, if any is the right one for you its pretty much all done in the one appointment though and then you can take your prescription to the chemist and buy the pill

also be sure to ask her any questions you have regarding the pill
