My grandma has an ancient old laptop that she said I could have last time I visited. The only problem is it's really really slow and old. What upgrades etc can I buy for it to run smoothly?
as what dara said... its impossible to tell you anything worthwile if we dont know your current spec..
windows 7 is the best operating system microsoft have ever released but its a bit of a system hogger and installing it onto a old system could actually make it run slower and thats if win7 even wants to be installed on a old system..
the windows 7 upgrade adviser will tell you if your old laptop will run it: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1b544e90-7659-4bd9-9e51-2497c146af15&displaylang=en
click start - run - (type) dxdiag - tell us the Processor and Memory located under the System tab and also what GPU you have located under the Display tab...
I could try to tell you how to upgrade, but it's really hard to do without knowing what you're starting with :)
What does the computer have now? (CPU, RAM, memory v. memory used, etc)
The laptop has full memory (of what it has) but it's really slow and old! Should I buy windows seven and can I get more memory installed?
you have to bring it in some where so they can delete old things that you dont need
