How can I get my parents to talk about our history?
how can I get my parents to talk to me about history our history ? I’ve tried asking but they just ignore me ! And right now I just wanna really know! Please ! help me what should I do to make em talk to me about our family history??
Go to one of those ansester websites if you wanna go back that far
maybe they had the same prob when they were your age, their rents prob did the same thing, try asking your grandparents about it :)
OMG!! I’ve got the same problem as well… it’s them mostly saying I don’t know to most of the questions I ask them!! other than their parents history, it seems as if they don’t know anything more!! if I were you, I’d just bring up questions
If they don’t want to offer it up, then make something up and tell them. They’ll be motivated to correct your misinformation and tell you what you want to know.
Maybe they honestly don’t know much? Just a guess.
Do some searches on the internet and see if you can come up with anything. Ask around other family members like grandparents or aunts/uncles. If you get as much as you can on your own, then bring something up in casual conversation with them, like “Dad, did you know great Uncle Bob lost his leg in an accident with a giraffe” or something, I duno…whatever you find out. That might spark their interest and get them to give up some information.
