I agree ... why would you want to use real snow? It's filthy. Snow picks up pollutants from the air, so even if you catch it falling from the sky, I still wouldn't recommend eating it unless you had no other choice.
Melt the snow into water, boil it to get rid of bacteria and germs, and go from there. Honestly though I think I'd skip the snow and just use water. You don't know what's been in the snow. Health perspective here.
