Should I go Homebound from school?

{Stress relation.} I have had a few questions in the past and all said yes, I do have the symptoms of stress. For some reason I feel a lot safer at home, but at school my head gets light and I get nauseas. I have also gotten to the point where stress makes you feel out of breath. I have tried everything to feel better, but nothing is working. My mother refuses to put me on an anti-depressant due to my age and doesn’t think a psychologist could help me. My friend’s brother had the same things as me exactly and he was put on homebound by a psychologist. Even if the last choice is to be homebound, how could I tell my mom? And even if she did allow me that, how would we be able to tell the school? Would we need to visit a psychologist like my friend’s brother?

A lot of people go through stress but there is a point where you can’t take it any more. I know what you are feeling because I stress a lot too, but you are in need of help. You can talk to your Guidance counselor which is probably the first thing you should do. Ask him/her how they can help you out and if they can add you to the homebound program. Your mom is trying to help you and wants the best for your future. She does not realize that you are stressed and depressed and if she does, she has still not considered homebound for you. You need to tell her that you might want to go into homebound for a year or two. As for the psychologist, I think you should really look into an appointment with one. Psychologists help because they make you prioritize the important things in your life and can suggest you with options. Telling the school that you want to enter homebound is the easy part. You could get a note from a psychologist saying that you really need to be put in homebound and go to your counselor and ask for advice.

Thank you for the answer. So the best thing to do would go to the school Nurse/Principal and ask for a Guidance Counselor right? After that, I could suggest to the Guidance counselor about homebound?

Answer #3

Yes that would be the thing to do, getting in contact with an education counselor that could expand your possibilities. Do not worry about being embarrassed to enter homebound, it is probably for the best. As for your mom, she needs to understand that is also for the best purpose.

Thank you and sorry for a late reply. It’s just really tough on my education because I only get 2 hours of sleep almost every night and if I ever do get to asleep, I normally wake up in about two-three hours later. I’ll defiantly ask for a counselor though now that I feel more confident about it. Thank you again.

Sorry to butt in a little– but I just wanted to say, that with our principal and Mrs. Bragg, whatever you wish to call her, after so long, they just get annoyed with you. I’ve talked to Mrs. Bragg before, and all she did, she seemed to annoy me more and make things worse. I do think you should talk to a counciler, yes. There’s that one lady…. I don’t know her name. But I know Nick has seen her in the past and she seems nice. So my opinion on that stuff.
