When is the best time for a rap artist to get a personal manager?

Answer #1

I’d say after you have enough going on (gigs, album sales, tracks recorded, some basic PR, a website, etc) that you need somebody to step in & start organizing for you.

Thing is…I view a music manager as a glorified secretary, of course, a good one is much more than that…but, do you have enough business going on that a decent manager will make sense, in terms of the pay they’ll require?

If not, then do your own PR, yes, it’s a lot more work, but more money, AND you’ll be in a far better position to negotiate as a highly successful rapper than a not successful one when you do meet the right manager.
