He is going through a rough time right now

I have been talking with one of my ex-boyfriends for a little while now. We were very close for a couple of years, and then lost touch. Now we are back in touch with eachother. We recently were hanging out and had sex. His youngest brother was diagnosed with brain cancer, and he has been in Boston ( we live in NY)dealing with the surgery, and recovery. I want to talk to him, and see how he is, ask him whats up, anything. I know he is going through a rough time, but he almost never answers my text messages, or calls me. I need advice as to how to deal. I mean how I am taking it is he just isnt in the mood to talk right now. But I still want to be there for him, but I dont want to annoy him. I try to send him jokes, and sometimes ask him how he is, and how his bro is doing, even though he doesnt respond. Is that wrong?

Hye needs time just call him and tell him to take his time and if he needs someone u will be there for him no matter what! This is a rough time for him but if u truly care about him u will let him ease him self! But if he does need u if will let u know1

Thanks balamuk. Since I posted that one I havent been trying to get in touch with him. And it actually makes me feel better, not really putting all my eggs is one basket so to say. And still knowig that there is a possiblility. When he is ready maybe he’ll come around. :) Thanks,

OK, this is a tough one, Carrie. I like your pieces of advice, btw. Concerning your question, I think you shouldn’t do anything, even though it is hard. You’ve done already what you could. If he wants, your…ex will contact you. Don’t push it with the messages, it won’t serve anything, mind your other business instead. I understand that you like the guy quite a lot, but the problem with his brother might not be the only one between the two of you. I mean, don’t count too much on that one! I don’t think he loves you and this is (probably) what you want. Waiting is the best thing to do now. Take care!
