Funny Lump on my wrist

Well Im 13 and have this like pea sized lump on the plam side of my left wrist, its quite hard like a bone that has poped out but I dont think it is, does anyone no what this could be or do I need to go to the doctors?

Answer #1

it sounds like a cyst- they are usually harmless, except for the location of them sometimes. if it is located in a place where it can interfere with the normal workings of your tendons, and nerves going through your carpal tunnel from your wrist to your hand. I had an mri of my hand done last year and they found one of these small cysts within my wrist- the specialist said that it is a common occurance- a lot of people have them- and that mine was in a harmless area- and shouldn’t cause any problems. however- I am not aware of the location of mine- in that I can not feel its presence. you on the other hand sound like you are fully aware of the location of yours. I would have a doctor check it out anyway- it wouldn’t hurt to get a medical opinion. my sister has had surgery to get hers removed- I am not sure of the details- if it was causing trouble with her hand- or if it was a cosmetic issue. but definately get it checked out.

Answer #2

Could be something called a ganglion. They usually do surgery to take them out. My sister had it done twice when she was young. Its done under anasthetic.
