Did Freddie Mercury have AIDS/HIV for a long time?
I listened to Bohiemian Rhapsody and some of the lyrics kind of go with what he was going through “Too late, my time has come, sends shivers down my spine, body’s aching all the time Goodbye, ev’rybody, I’ve got to go, got to leave you all behind and face the truth Mama oooh, I don’t want to die, I sometimes wish I’d never been born at all…Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me…..” and in somebody to love “I’m ok, I’m alright Ain’t gonna face no defeat I just gotta get out of this prison cell Someday I’m gonna be free, Lord!” is it just a coincidence or…?
I’m not sure when he got HIV but apparently he was diagnosed with AIDS in 1987 before passing away in 1991.
Freddie, himself, stated that the song had no symbolic interpretations, that it was just a song he through together with a bunch of rhyming nonsense.
Considering the song came out in 1975, and Freddie’s diagnosis was in the late 80’s, there’s no rational cause to connect the two.
