Horoscopes have had a profound influence on mankind over the millenia. Battles were waged or avoided based on stars. The early Catholic church fought against it but horoscopes ended up having an influence on Christianity. Those of you old enough may remember that after Ronald Reagan's assassination attempt that Nancy Reagan asked astrologer Joan Quigley to be White House Astrologer to predict future assassination attempts.
This is going to be a huge change for the gullible give credence to this sort of thing.
FWIW, I seem much more like my old sign Taurus than my new one Aries.
Also, The zodiac signs were set by the Babylonians about 2500 years ago. Since then, the axis of the earth has moved so that from our vantage point, so the sign that everyone goes by, could be wrong. For example, I always knew myself to be an Aries, because my birthday is March 27. Now that they have redone the zodiac, I'm actually a Pisces. This makes sense to me because I never thought I fit into the Aries stereotype, but the Pisces one is actually a lot more like who I am.
Some astrologist wants to add another zodiac sign called "Ophiuchus" and change the rest of the dates (move the dates closer together) to make room for the new one. Everyone is freaking out because they think that their sign is changing. This change has not went into effect yet, and probably never will. Even if it did though, the changes would only effect people born after 2009.
Here's an article further explaining it, and basically saying it's a load of crap.
•Capricorn: Jan 20 - Feb 16 •Aquarius: Feb 16 - March 11 •Pisces: March 11- April 18 ...•Aries: April 18- May 13 •Taurus: May 13- June 21 •Gemini: June 21- July 20 •Cancer: July 20- Aug 10 •Leo: Aug 10- Sept 16 •Virgo: Sept 16- Oct 30 •Libra: Oct 30- Nov 23 •Scorpio: Nov23- Nov 29 •Ophiuchus: Nov 29- Dec 17 •Sagittarius: Dec 17- Jan 20
Every 3000 years the stars shift. This past shift ended up putting another constellation on the zodiac "map" or course". In order to squeeze in the new zodiac sign they had to shift the dates for all the others. The new one is Ophiuchus, "The serpent holder". This change in dates only effects those born during or after 2011.
Ignore everything I said. Western horoscopes are different, I'm wrong. I don't really follow astrology, so I didn't know. I'm sorry.
