Who here has experience with forensics science(as their career)?

I’ve been giving this serious consideration as my career choice but I’m not the neatess/most organized person, and I would obviously need that(especially in field work). So is there a department that wouldn’t necessarily require me going into the field? Like ballistics or coroner department?

I personally havent worked in forensic science but I have done some forensic science courses at university and my flatmate is a forensic pathology technician. I think you would be ok with not being the most organised person as long as you were not wanting to do field work, and as long as you are not the most disorganised person on the planet! My flatmate mostly works in the morgue and in the lab (she is a biochemist) and from my own experience with lab work, I dont think you would need to be an especially neat person. I am not particularly neat, and I manage to keep the lab in a decent state that would be acceptable if we were to be inspected. Its not all that difficult. You do need to have good observation skills though. Ballistics could also be a good option. I think that every department would require some degree of organisation and neatness, and little mistakes can have huge consequences.
