Here are some analogue INPUT control devices (sometimes called “detectors”):

(a) thermistor (converts a varying temperature into a varying resistance ); (b) thermocouple (converts a varying temperature into a varying voltage); (c) photo-electric cell (converts a varying light intensity into a varying voltage); (d) piezo-electric cell (converts a varying pressure into a varying voltage); (e) microphone (converts a varying sound intensity into a varying voltage); (f) potentiometer (converts varying angular displacement into varying resistance);

Here are some analogue OUTPUT devices: (g) heating element e.g. high power wirewound resistor (h) lncandescent lamp (converts varying current into varying light intensity) (i) solenoid (converts varying current into varying mechanical force) (j) loudspeaker (converts varying amplitude audio signal into varying amplitude sound).

You may prefer to include some examples of DIGITAL control devices e.g. a magnetically controlled reed relay as an digital proximity input device and a electromagnetic relay as a digital output device. .
