Police in Edmonton are searching for a suspect in connection with some pills that were stolen, but their biggest concern is that the pills are unusually potent. Why would a med company release this kind of pill?
There are lots of medications that are potentially fatal. That is why they are prescription only and in the case of OxyContin a scheduled drug.
OxyContin is a time release medication. When abused it is generally crushed so all of the narcotic is released at once making it much more dangerous. Snorting or injecting it causes it to bet into the system even faster. This is why a 80mg Oxy can be fatal; when used as prescribed it isn't an especially dangerous drug.
The good news is that abuse resistant forms of OxyContin are being developed that should save lives.
I agree. Seems completely irresponsible with the amount of addiction that is related with that particular pain pill at the moment. If a patient who actually needed that much of the dr.ug they should just prescribe them more, not make a pill so strong just one could k!ll a person.
It's all about the money Colleen, either someone hired them to produce it or they are doing that to make more money and not caring about who it kills or hurts.
