Choosing which parent to live with

Im turning17 next month and want to leave my mothers house… Do I have the right to choose to move in with my father?

I went through the same thing! try talking to your parents first. Explain where you want to go and why (try not to hurt anyones feelings) You have to be happy in all of this their problems are their problems.

you have to have a good reason for emancipation (I’d suggest you learn how to spell it). Your father can petition to have primary custody, or whatever they call it now

ACTUALLY, you have the right to suggest it. And at your age, you have a lot more pull and legitimacy than you would if you were 10 or 13… Ultimately it’s either up to your parents or the courts to decide, but they’ll likely listen to you.
