Why does my cat chew on plastic wrappers?

No matter how many times I make sure I put the wrappers deep enough in the trash can, my female cat Mischief always manages to get them out, then drags them off, and chews on them. Why does she do that?

My dog digs out cardboard and chews it. He doesn’t eat it, just spits it out. Have you tried giving it some toys?

That’s a common behaviour for cats … I have several cats and they all do the same thing. I guess it’s something to do with the texture, or the sound it makes when you crinkle it.

I agree with Colleen it’s likely your cat is attracted to the sound. I had a cat who went nuts over tape. He’d try to peel it off boxes and if you took a bunch of it and formed a ball….he was in heaven for hours.

Yep, it was real fun while wrapping presents…and trying to hold paper in place while the cat was running off with the tape dispenser. A couple of times he was lucky I didn’t wrap him…LOL
