Can I use Diane 35 bc continously not to have my period?

Hi there,

So, I am going on vacation tomorrow and I am suppose to get on my period about today. I decided to trick my body and keep taking the pill continuously instead of stoping for the week so I will not get on for vaca. Have any of you ever done that? I’m scared it might not be safe. I’ve heard with other birth controls it’s not a problem but I havent heard anything about this one. Because I am doing this I am extreamly bloated, will midol help for this ydoes anyone know how tou think?

I’ve been on Diane for the past 6 years. I started when I was 15 becuase of minor pimples on my back that I just couldnt get rid of, and I’ve continued to use it for bc. It cleared up my pimples completly within 3 months, however I’ve never been off long enough to see if they come back completly. I think they do tho, because I have seen a few come back when I stop. Also before I started Diane I used to only get my period for about 3 to 4 days, now its about 7 to 8. Is that normal? For those of you who have menstral craps it really does help. But I am prety sure I have lost my sex drive. For the weight gain I am not sure I did gain wait but I was getting older and as soon as I started to work out I lost most of it.

I heard somewhere that you are not supposed to be on diane for more then a couple of years, but so far I am fine. And also for those of you who are not covered there is a cheaper version of it I take sometimes. It is the exsact same aside from the name. I am not sure what it is called but ask your doctor they should know.

I hope you can help me, and I hope I helped you.

Diane 35 is a pretty strong pill to be on (contains a lot of progesterone and estrogen) and therefore the possible side effects could be worse on it.

Unfortunately you’ll have to ask your doctor about using it continuously to skip your period. It depends on your pill and your pack whether you can do it. GENERALLY it is ok to continue with next pack and skip your period, but make sure in any case.

There was a huge discrepancy/controversy regarding the Diane 35 birth control pill a couple of years ago. It was found to cause breast cancer in some women using it longer than 10 years (I believe). It was taken of the market, but then later returned and women are still using it.

My suggestion regarding continuing it would be to speak to your doctor if there is a lighter/safer alternative available for you (especially since your acne should be cleared up by now).
