What do you do when your boyfriend's family call you his ex girlfriends name?

Just recently 2 of boyfriends family members called me his ex girlfriends name. As hurt as I was I just played it off like it had no affect on me, but truth I was really hurt. Everytime I bring up the subject he only apologizes and then change the subject like nothing had happened. Now I just make a list in my head to see who’s next to call me his ex girlfriends name! I mean I know accidents happen but its just sad, to have to think that what if his family do misses his ex girlfriend since she used to always be around and now shes not. I’m just like, what about me? I know its only been 3 months since I dated him, but still, 3 months is pretty long enough to remember someones name!!!

You are reading too much into this. They are just used to saying her name so sometimes it comes out. I’ve even called my wife my -ex’s name and she has called me her -ex’s name. My parents even call me my brother’s name. It is upsetting but chances are it is just their neural pathways are trained to say her name more than yours.

It really isn’t that big of a deal. Like filletofspam said, you’re reading too much into it and his family is just used to saying her name more. 3 months really isn’t that long of a time either.
