Answer #2

well probly the only way is to let it grow out then cut the colored hair off if you dont want to collor your hair again or go to the store and find the color closest to the right brown you want then re die it but you want to make sure its been a wile since you last died your hair couse when you die your hair a lot it makes your hair fall out if your not carful

Answer #3

you can buy a hair stripper from c.v.s a.k.a oops. You will need to do it twise or untill it has lifted out the black. Ater you do so DONT USE DARK BROWN hair dye your hair will suck it up like a sponge and turn black. Use a light brown shade works best.

Hi, Please do not take any of this advice that people without a cosmetology license have given you. I have a license to do hair and just recently removed black color from one of my friends hair. She used over the counter black hair color and when I first met her it was halfway down the hairshaft. Her natural color was about a level 5 (light brown). I went to local supply house and bought a color remover. NOT BLEACH. You mix the color remover with a 20 volume peroxide and apply like color all over the black hair. Be careful not to get this on the natural regrowth. If you do, the natural color with be really blond. But I did warn my friend not to freak after I removed the color remover. I let her know it would be like a burnt orange color. She was ok with that. Also, when you finally remove all the black, do not apply another permanent color on your pourous hair. Use a semi- permanent color. This will not deposit real dark and will fade after 4 to 6 weeks, thus giving you time to get that porous-damaged hair back to normal porosity, for permanent color.Protein packs with help strengthen your hair after such harsh chemicals are used to remove the black. Salons call this a color correction service and you will pay at least 200.00 for this service. My friends hair turned out really nice. Her black was so gothic looking and now she is a pretty medium copper brown. Good luck

OKay I died my hair with a dark brown permanent hair dye and it came out black, I blow dried it to see the colour after doing all the steps and freaked out, I washed it 3 times and then mized shampoo and baking soda and left that in my hair, that took out enough dye that it is not a dark brown with a bit of red ( taking out black makes your hair go orange) I also washed my hair with head&shoulders shampoo, that also helped at bit. I had heard that ketchup would work but that just made my hair go darker, and so again with the baking soda and shampoo. I havent tried lemon juice because of the result with the ketchup but supposedbly lemon juice removes colour as well. My hair is very damaged now, I bought natural shampoo and conditioner and I will be doing hair moisture treatments before I try to lighten my colour with a lighter brown, pernament dye by the same brand. I suggest everyone who dyes their hair does moisture and strengthing treatments, they’re not that expensicve. All my hair products came to about $40

How to get black hair dye out

Answer #13

I was black for a few months I loved it sounds strange I no but I decided it was boring and I used the strongest hair dye make going Live xxl

I have had my hair stripped twice and funny enough my hair is in such amazing condition.

the best thing to do if put fairy liquid on your hair for 1hour each night for a week then a week later do it with Head and sholders or vosune and when you wash your hair dont use a keep in colour shampoo or condioner. hot oils for you hair is also ment to help to get dye out and also a clarifying shampoo.

when a hair dye says leave it on for a certain time leave it on your hair for that long and no longer because otherwise it will go darker :) well good luck xx

Answer #14

If your hair turned out too dark use Head & Shoulders Shampoo…well, any kind of cleansing Shampoo will work…it takes awhile…also Dawn dish soap works. My friend used it after she didnt like her black hair…

kaseyxmariex92, I took a number of different hair classes, so I do know how the salon will do it, but its much cheaper to do it at home yourself. Or atleast a family memeber or friend. First: You will need to buy a bleaching kit. Not all blonde colouring kits will take out black, so you will need to make sure its a bleaching one by carefully reading the label. It will cost anywhere from $12 to $15 (Canadian).

Second: You will need to go home and do that, obviosly, or wherever you are doing it. Once you have all the hairdye in (it probley wont work instantly so don’t panic) MAKE SURE you get a plastic bag and cover all your hair with it, and pin it up so it is sealed really good. The heat NEEDS to be kept in, so the bleach works.

Third: Assuming you got the right kit and your hair is now bleach blonde, now you are able to buy a brown hairdyeing kit and it will work 100%. Any colour will work on blonde.

This may sound expensive. But its really the only way to go, the salon would cost A LOT more because you have to pay other charges aswell. Black does not fade into bown, it eventually fades into a greyish colour usually. So, good luck and I hope it goes well for you. -ѕтәpн♥

Answer #18

try using head & shoulders shampoo. it helps fade black hair. you can also put lemon juice in a spray bottle (mixed with a little water) and apply it on your hair before shampooing. lemon juice acts as a natural bleach. just make sure to condition your hair really good.

Answer #19

I am having the same problem..What’s wrong with us? LOL..I tried to do dark brown and it turned black..I much rather have it black than all falling out and broken from bleach so I’m going to try and wash it a lot till it fades. Using dish soap should help!!

Answer #20

HELP! I dyed my hair dark brown aswell and it came out black?! please help as I have school tomorrow and I need this to lighten!!!

Answer #21

just got my results this is how mine turned out with light brown so if you want it back dark brown I suggest you get a medium brown which I am going to try tomorrow below is a picture of how the light brown turned out on ginger I’ll let you know again tomorrow how it goes…

Answer #22

Seek the help of a professional, you don’t want to end up with bright orange, green, or broken off hair. if you jsut want to lighten it a TINY bit, wash your hair with baking soda and pert plus shampoo, let it sit on for a while and MAKE SURE to use a REALLY GOOD CONDITIONER afterwards. If you do bleach it yourself and it turns out really brassy, you’ll want to put an ash based color over it. If it is not brassy, but more of a bleach blonde or a cooler shade DO NOT use an ash color as your hair WILL have a hint of green to it. Good luck, but I really hope you get somone with some training to do it for you.

Answer #23

I had dyed my hair black just about a month ago and a professional licensed hair stylist told me to mix one tablespoon of baking soda into my regular shampoo, then let it sit and use a deep protien conditioner. Use that system for a few weeks and it should lighten it some but if it dosn’t work you can always put a lot of hightlights in your hair to lighten it up a bit. But do not use feria color people soo bad for your hair!

Answer #24

About a week ago, I dyed my light brown hair a medium brown (with PERMANENT DYE - never use permanent!!!) and it turned out BLACK. In the light you could see a faint reddish-brown tone but overall, the color was black. I freaked out.

About two days later, and some researching online on how to fade black hair to brown, I found a solution that really worked for me. What I did was replace my shampoo with palmolive dish soap. I rubbed it in my hair, lathered it really good, and let it sit for about 5 minutes, then rinsed it out. I did this every day, and now a week later, my hair is a very beautiful rich dark brown. I thought it would be uneven, like black hair underneath and brown spots everywhere, but it turned out really beautifully. There are a few lighter brown strands that just look like highlights. It looks VERY natural.

I can’t promise this will work for you, but this is my experience and maybe it will help someone else decide what to do.

Keep in mind that you need to use a very good conditioner afterwards and let it sit on your hair for about 10 minutes, as using palmolive on your hair is EXTREMELY drying, but so worth the results. You won’t see a change right away, you need to continue using the soap for at least a week to see a change. Good luck and I hope it works for you :)

P.S. The permanent hair dye I used that turned my hair black was only a few days old before I started using palmolive to fade the color. If you’ve had black hair color for a few weeks or months, this method might not work for you.
