birthing cat advice

my cat is giving birth and a kitten still in the sack keeps comeing out a little and then going back in .. is this normal?

Answer #1

Well I am curious how it went. But that is very normal in humans, every child is born that way. during the peak of the contraction the baby is being forced down through the birth canal, and as the contraction subsides then the baby goes back in a little it is kind of a two steps forward one step back kind of thing.. I think all mammals are pretty close in delivery minus the sack of course..we keep ours for re-use…lol let me know how the delivery went. Did you ask a vet this same question? If so did they say it was normal? I guess it depends on how long this was going on too, was it jut for few minutes or for a long time too.

I’m sure by now the kittens have already been born (if not - get her to a vet…12 hours is too long).

I just want to say that robor is WRONG. Do NOT pull the kitten out - you can seriously hurt it. Someone I know did this, and tore the umbilical cord off…needless to say, the kitten ended up with it’s intestines falling out (yes, it died).

The kitten will come out on it’s own with it’s mother’s help - cats know what they’re doing, so let nature take it’s course.

Do let us know how it went, though.
